Asian Development Bank (ADB) is an international development finance institution headquartered in Manila, Philippines and is composed of 67 members, 48 of which are from the Asia and Pacific region. ADB's mission is to reduce poverty and promote sustainable economic growth in the region. ADB's main instruments for helping its developing member countries are policy dialogue, loans, equity investments, guarantees, grants, and technical assistance.
The position is assigned in the Office of the Director General (SPOD) within the Strategy, Policy and Review Department (SPD). SPD provides ADB with strategic planning perspectives and direction, ensures policy and operations coordination, develops policies and business processes for sovereign and nonsovereign operations, supports allocation and monitoring of the use of operational resources, manages the implementation of development results and effectiveness, maintains institutional relations with the international development community and quality assurance of country partnership strategies, country operational business plans, and selected projects. SPD also has direct oversight functions for the three Representative Offices in Frankfurt, Tokyo and Washington DC.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a fixed-term appointment for 3 years, which may be extended for a period of up to 3 years per extension, or not renewed. In case of extension, staff may continue in the position for another term of up to 3 years, or be reassigned to any suitable position in ADB.
This vacancy is open to internal and external applicants. If the successful candidate is an ADB staff with a regular appointment, his/her selection will be for an initial fixed period of 3 years subject to Section 5 of Administrative Order No. 2.03 ("Performance Management, Selection, Transfers, Promotion, Position Classification and Staff Level Complement System") and the terms of his/her regular appointment. For ADB staff selected with a fixed term appointment, such appointment will cease and he/she will be given a new appointment based on Section 5 of AO 2.03.
The Deputy Director General supports the Director General (DG) in leading the planning, implementation and completion of the department's work plan, ensuring quality of work outputs, managing and supervising staff and planning and monitoring resource requirements of the department. Provide technical advice on the areas of strategy and policy development, business process reform, resource mobilization and allocation, partnerships and development effectiveness. Assist in informing the Board and Management of emerging developments, opportunities and challenges.
The incumbent will report to the Director General and will supervise international, national and administrative staff.

The selected candidate is appointed for an initial term of 3 years.
ADB offers competitive remuneration at the range between USD 239,500 and 335,300 per year for this vacancy and a comprehensive benefits package. Actual appointment salary will be based on ADB's standards and computation, taking into account the selected individual's qualifications and experience.
