Chemonics seeks a deputy chief of party with a specialization in criminal justice and anti-corruption. This is for an upcoming USAID project that aims to build long-term, self-sustaining institutional capacity in El Salvador’s criminal justice system, ensuring the delivery of effective and accountable justice services that protect victims and reduce impunity for selected violent crimes and corruption. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the day-to-day technical implementation of activities focused on the investigation and prosecution of corruption cases
  • Work directly with project staff and national stakeholders to develop and implement effective solutions to improve the response of the criminal justice system to corruption cases
  • Ensure the smooth and effective implementation of activities in the absence of the chief of party


  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant legal or justice field or social sciences, public administration, criminology, or political science; juris doctor or master’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of six years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility as part of complex programs related to criminal justice reform or anti-corruption; USAID experience preferred
  • Demonstrated work experience in Latin America in justice sector strengthening and anti-corruption projects; experience in Central America preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of the criminal justice system and anti-corruption sector in El Salvador preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: investigation, auditing, internal controls, and internal affairs of the judicial sector; codes of conduct and ethical norms; corruption detection and prosecution; digital evidence; forensic accounting; criminal justice capacity building; victim and witness protection; and judicial reform
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with proven leadership experience and experience successfully managing and coordinating large work groups
  • Experience supervising monitoring, evaluation, and learning for subcontractors and grantees
  • Demonstrated project management, human resources, and team management experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing significant donor-funded technical activities in justice-related programs
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in Spanish and English required
