Work LocationDKI Jakarta, Indonesia, Ministry of Environment/ Environmental Protection Agency Expected duration12 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a partnership of governments, intergovernmental organizations, and representatives of the private sector, the environmental community, and other members of civil society. The CCAC is the only international initiative working on integrated climate and clean air solutions to reduce the rate of near-term warming. It focuses on fast actions to reduce emissions of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) including methane, black carbon, HFCs and tropospheric ozone. More information on the CCAC is available at: www.ccacoalition.org Indonesia joined the CCAC in 2025 to step up its ambition to combat short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs). As a member of the Global Methane Pledge, Indonesia is working towards the collective goal of reducing global methane emissions by at least 30% from 2020 levels by 2030. Indonesia is one of the first countries to receive support under CCACโs Super Pollutant Country Action Accelerator (โthe Acceleratorโ), a new 3-year programme to help the government drive deep and sustained reductions in super pollutant emissions. Indonesia has indicated national planning for SLCP mitigation as a priority, as well as addressing SLCPs from the waste, agriculture, transport and fossil fuels sector. The CCAC is therefore seeking a CCAC National Expert for Indonesia to strengthen the capacity of the Government of Indonesia to coordinate national SLCP planning, policy, and implementation efforts. The consultant will lead the coordination and implementation of CCAC projects and engagement at the national level, including by consulting across ministries and engaging regionally and internationally on SLCP issues. The consultant will support the identification of priorities and needs related to SLCP action, and the setup of the Super Pollutant Unit under the approved CCAC Super Pollutant Country Action Accelerator. S/he will work in close collaboration with the CCAC Secretariat team and focal points at the Ministry. Qualifications/special skills- Masterโs degree or an equivalent qualification in a subject related to environmental management, political science, economics, project management, finance, administration, or in a relevant field. At least 5 years of professional experience working in a field relevant to environmental management/science, climate change, economics, health, project management, finance, administration. Demonstrated ability to provide technical assistance to governments and other stakeholders is required. Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholder groups including national governments is required. Knowledge of the national policies in climate change mitigation and air pollution is required. A good understanding of short-lived climate pollutants, climate change and air pollution issues in Indonesia is required. Excellent communication skills (written and oral presentations) are required.
