Organisational Context

The Occupational Health Unit (OHU) is part of the Division of Management Services within the Registry of the International Criminal Court. It provides a comprehensive occupational health and welfare service for staff that ensures a healthy workplace environment for the Court in The Hague, as well as advice, assistance and support for ICC staff in field activities throughout the world.

Project Background
The Occupational Health Unit (OHU) has been tasked with the implementation of a Secondary Traumatic Stress (STS) project. The project includes the execution of a well-being survey with special attention to the presence or risk of development of secondary trauma and burnout. The survey will result in the identification of work areas where there is risk of secondary traumatization and in the promotion of preventive measures to reduce the risk of STS among the staff members of the ICC.

Scope of Services
The objective of this Call for Expression of Interest is to identify a qualified and suitable Project Consultant (Psychologist) who, under the overall guidance of the Head of Occupational Health Unit and in close collaboration with the Staff Counsellor (STS Project Leader) will contribute to the Project with the following activities:

• Develop and conduct awareness presentations and training on relevant topics;
• Develop welfare programs addressing psychosocial needs including individual or group briefings, workshops/training, raising awareness and sensitization sessions, team building etc.;
• Develop a comprehensive program for care of staff members who developed Secondary Trauma;
• Collect, analyze and evaluate information relevant to the project;
• Maintaining professional confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications:

Advanced university degree in psychology, clinical psychology, clinical social work or relevant social sciences is required. A first­level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience is accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
National board registration or active license to practice as psychologist is required.
A minimum of two years (four years with a first-level university degree) of relevant experience in (occupational health) psychology and/or clinical psychology with experience in employee welfare/mental health programs, conflict management/mediation in the work environment, preferably in an international/multicultural context.
Experience in remote counselling (e­health); traumatic stress briefing and debriefing is desirable.
Experience of conducting surveys on well-being and mental health in a work place context is considered an additional asset.


Successful candidate should also possess the following skills and abilities:
Maintain professional confidentiality at all times;
Establish and maintain effective working relations in a multi­cultural, multi­ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Knowledge of Languages:
Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, English or French is required. Working knowledge of the other is considered an asset.
