Our Ideal Candidate:

To support this mission, we are seeking a motivated humanitarian professional to join our Syria Response team. They are a university graduate with at least 3 years’ experience in a senior management position in a humanitarian or recovery context.

We are particularly looking for a candidate with a sound understanding of implementing humanitarian programming in the Middle East and excellent communication skills. They are an individual with with the demonstrated ability to perform well in a highly fluid environment with proven experience managing programme implementation to optimize results. Fluency in written and verbal English is essential.

Position Description:

The Area Programme Manager (APM) is responsible for overseeing a substantial part of NRC Syria’s programme, in selected geographical areas. S/he will ensure that all projects and project activities meet relevant quality and compliance standards, extend adequate levels of high-quality support and supervision to the Project Managers, and contribute extensively to new programme development. The APM will ensure that NRC continues to implement holistic and needs-based programming and will represent NRC at relevant coordination forums.

The Area Programme Manager is responsible for implementing integrated programmes and represent NRC at relevant coordination forums, as delegated by the Area Manager, and is a member of the Area Management Team. Responsibilities covered by this position include:

  • Line management for CC project managers
  • Compliance and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
  • Responsible for ensuring programme support to integrated programme, coordination and technical quality in Area office
  • Provide area specific input relevant for CC strategies
  • Compliance to donor standards, and grant management and regular reporting to donor in Area
  • Identify funding opportunities and develop funding strategy and forecasts
  • Responsible for grants management and BPO allocations in Area
  • Ensure compliance with contractual commitments and extracting and implementing key learnings from project implementation
  • Coordinate new emergency response in Area, and approve existing
  • Ensure capacity building of all technical staff
