DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Director, Public-Private Engagement (PPE) Office, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

1. Assisting in finalizing the new Annex to share Members' good practices in their PPE-related legislation and policies with WMO Members to be added to the Guidelines for PPE;

2. Considering and planning the strengthening of a PPE training course in light of the new Annex; and

3. Researching and analyzing newly available legislation and policies to better assist WMO Members.


DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:

A report to be provided, which should include:

a) Assistance provided in finalizing the revised Guidelines for PPE in all six languages;

b) A draft skeleton for the strengthening of PPE training based on what is expected to be adopted during the contracting period as a new annex to the Guidelines for PPE; and

c) A detailed analysis of Members' laws and regulations related to meteorological service to be provided by the PPE Office as well as relevant suggestions for future action.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Master's degree in meteorology, oceanography, earth, physical or natural sciences, or a closely related field. PhD and/or training in management skills are an advantage.

Experience
1. At least 10 years of professional experience in operational national meteorological services or at international organizations related to meteorological service.

2. Experience in facilitating Public-Private Engagement in meteorological services.

3. Experience in closely and directly being responsible for examining and revising a national meteorological service-related law and ordinances and overseeing its overall implementation, including the division of roles with other laws.

4. Experience in Disaster Risk Reduction activities.

Other requirements
Knowledge and experience with WMO PPE activities is an asset.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of WMO would be an advantage.
