Why work with us?

Despite the economic growth of the last decade, the level of food insecurity has been stagnant over the past five years in Armenia. Although the situation is improving for a large share of the population, those worst off are being left behind, demonstrating significant disparities and uneven territorial development in Armenia. In response to these challenges, WFP developed a Country Strategic Plan 2019-2015 (CSP). The CSP which builds on several key initiatives, including the handover of the implementation of the school feeding programme in the regions, establishing resilient food systems, enhancing national shock-responsive social protection system, and emergency response mechanisms.WFP Armenia integrated a three-pillar programming approach offering an integrated approach of food security, energy and water security, in border villages, where the combined approach is required to ensure preparedness and new livelihood options as water, energy and food security solutions have been impacted by conflict and shocks. This includes construction/upgrading of irrigation primary, secondary on-farm systems, establishment of green revolving funds, reducing post-harvest losses by establishing logistic hubs and enhancement of farmersโ€™ capacity for sustainable farming practices. Capacity strengthening is a cross-cutting effort is key to ensuring the sustainability of the programmes and activities at national, regional, community and individual level. It includes joint work with local and international actors, public and private sector representatives, regional administration and the government entities. WFP โ€˜s humanitarian and development interventions are mainly focused in โ€˜newโ€™ border areas in Syunik, VD, Gegharkunik enabling affected communities to sustain their food requirements. The portfolio in Syunik region has progressively grown and it is required to hire an agricultural engineer who will support the team in managing the expanding agricultural interventions and addressing the increasing complexities of the region's agricultural sector.

This is an opportunity for an exciting and challenging Programme role in a multi-cultural, hardworking, fun and interdisciplinary team. In addition, we offer:
