Job Description: The Operations Manager for FSD Tajikistan is responsible for overseeing all demining and weapons and ammunition disposal operations in the region. He/she reports indirectly to FSD Headquarters' Head of Operations and directly to the Tajikistan Programme Manager. Responsibilities include managing operational equipment, drafting and ensuring compliance with SOPs, maintaining technical standards and safety protocols, liaising with national authorities and military commands, and providing technical representation for FSD. The role also involves reporting on operations progress, drafting donor reports, and supporting non-traditional mine action projects, such as mine victim assistance, local capacity development and infrastructure projects, pesticide and environmental remediation projects and support to other implementing partners in the region.
Location and Travel: Based in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, with potential travel within Central/South Asia and to FSD HQ locations in Geneva and Manila. Attendance at FSD conferences may be required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
Required:
- Minimum 5 years of humanitarian mine action operations management experience.
- Minimum IMAS EOD 3 qualification/equivalent.
- Strong demonstrated/proven experience of report and proposal writing, results based management and theory of change.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of environmental land/soil remediation processes, and/or waste management sector knowledge.
- Understanding of legal and compliance issues related to environmental and water management and sustainable development.
- Previous experience in environmental or development projects.
